Story
two obsessions, one shed
Vellamo began where surfing met woodwork — and neither would let go.
Together with my partner, I began making and selling custom boards and a small collection of standard models. Surf photography and apparel grew around them, giving Vellamo a wider creative language while the workshop stayed at its centre.
The response carried the project further than we expected. Vellamo drew interest from potential investors and local retailers, including Finisterre, the British surf and outdoor-wear brand.
That first chapter paused when we chose to move overseas. What remains is more than an archive: it is a body of boards, photographs and hard-won knowledge — and the starting point for whatever comes next.

from one board to a brand
01 · The beginning
A passion project
Surfing and woodwork met in a personal project: making boards with the care, patience and feel of something built by hand.
02 · The next chapter
A boutique surf brand
The project quickly grew into a small brand, making custom boards alongside a considered collection of standard models.
03 · Made together
Beyond the workshop
Working with my partner, the world around the boards expanded to include surf photography and apparel.
04 · Growing interest
A wider audience
Vellamo attracted attention from potential investors and local retailers, including interest from British surf and outdoor-wear brand Finisterre.
05 · A new horizon
Moving overseas
The first chapter paused when we decided to move overseas. The boards, photographs and process remain the foundation for what comes next.
